brings the latest to Indonesia’s broadcast media industry

Digital technologies, computer graphics and animation take centrestage at
this year’s event

JAKARTA – April 20, 2005 – BroadcastAsia2005, the premier electronic media show
in Asia, organised by Singapore Exhibition Services (SES) and endorsed by the
Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), offers a comprehensive platform for
Indonesia to secure the latest broadcast technologies and solutions to meet the
needs of its media industry.

Indonesia’s
mushrooming television stations are entering an era of fierce competition.
Several new stations have emerged, and even several regions now have their own
local television. Indonesia currently has 11 national television stations, 24
regional television stations and 2 cable and satellite TV operators –
Indovision and Kabelvision.i

Kabelvision
has announced the rollout of its digital TV service, in line with the growth of
the Asian digital TV market which is expected to more than double from 10.4 million
sets in 2004 to 28.8 million in 2008, according market researcher In-Stat.ii

Geared
to meet the growth and digitisation of Indonesia’s broadcasting industry,
BroadcastAsia2005 gathers over 800 international companies this year from June
14-17 at Singapore Expo. The event will focus on media content creation,
management and delivery. The event also features group participants from China,
France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Spain, Singapore, USA and UK.

“Indonesia’s
broadcasting industry is growing and digitising rapidly in urban areas such as
Jakarta. In line with the global trend moving towards digital radio, TV and
cinema, BroadcastAsia2005 allows Indonesia’s broadcasting industry to acquire
the latest digital technologies and solutions on showcase to meet the needs of
Indonesian viewers and listeners,” said Mr Jackson Yeoh, senior project manager
with event organiser SES

“In
addition, there is a strong need to restore broadcasting networks in
disaster-struck areas in Indonesia to bring entertainment and information back
to the residents’, as well as to ensure that there is a public broadcasting
system in place to disseminate early warnings of disasters and fast, accurate
information of their occurrence and impact. BroadcastAsia2005 will therefore
allow Indonesia’s broadcasting industry to source for equipment and
capabilities necessary to the rebuilding of broadcasting in these areas,” added
Mr Yeoh.

There
were a total of 1,268 visitors from Indonesia at last year’s event, testifying
to the relevance of the BroadcastAsia to Indonesia’s broadcasting industry.
Indonesian visitors formed the second highest number of overseas visitors at
BroadcastAsia2004.

SES also
announced that the show is well on track to another successful run, with
industry big-wigs such as Apple, Autodesk Media and Entertainment, Avid, Barco,
Canopus, Dalet, Harris, Leitch Asia and Tandberg TV confirming their presence
at this year’s show. The event has also attracted the participation of
Indonesian companies including P.T. Infotech Solutions, who are using
BroadcastAsia2005 to create great awareness of their technologies and
capabilities in other parts of Asia.

Features at BroadcastAsia2005
In keeping with the times and evolution of the broadcast and electronic media
industry, this year’s show will also see heavy emphasis on computer graphics
and animation, as well as features that promise to engage the industry.

BroadcastAsia2005
will also see a rise in the number of exhibitors and visitors in the computer
graphics, animation and content creation space as
